This Saturday is the annual Flagstaff Bed Races!  We want a CrossFit
Flagstaff Team, or TWO teams!  Please let us know immediately if you
are interested!  $60/person, $2500 prize money to the winning teams!
Not a bad investment!  Here’s the skinny:

Every year for 14 years, Flagstaff has hosted the Bed Races — a fun event which raises money for the Toys for Tots program.

This year, the event will be held on Sept 13 and 14, at Wheeler Park.

There will be a parade, live music, food, and of course, lots of racing!  Over 4,000 people are expected to attend!

A bed racing team consists of 5 people (4 to push and one to ride), and
the first 3 teams will each win substantial money (at least $500 per
person for 1st place, maybe more, depending on sponsorships).

The Flagstaff Marathon is approaching fast!

Now is a good time to think about training for the Flagstaff
Marathon.  Or if the full marathon is not your distance, you can support
North Country HealthCare by signing up for the half marathon or 10k distance
the same day.

The races will start at 8 am on Saturday, September 27th (Kids Kilo at
9:30 am) at the Flagstaff Nordic Center,
which provides a great vibe and a completely off-road course on the Coconino National Forest.  Runners in past
years have complimented the Nordic Center’s race crew and the support from North Country’s volunteers along the course.

Medals will given out this year to all the marathon finishers to
recognize the achievement of training for and finishing one of the
region’s most challenging (and scenic) marathons.

Packet Pick-Up, Pasta Dinner, and
Pre-Race Talks at The Summit

This year, packet pick-ups will be at The
Summit Center on Friday, September 26, from 5-7 pm.

The packet pick-up evening will also feature pre-race talks starting at
5:30 pm by distance coach Jack T. Daniels and sports medicine expert Monika
Radloff, MD.  Runners World Magazine named Jack Daniels the “Best
Coach in the World,” and he currently coaches and mentors runners at
NAU’s Center for High Altitude Training.  He will talk about Ingredients for Running Success.
Doctor Radloff will present valuable information to runners who will be racing
the next day at about 8,000 feet elevation.

Race limited to 250 entrants

Early registrations have gone well so far, so there is a chance the
race may fill up before race-day.  Please consider registering today at
the Flagstaff Nordic Center
web site: http://flagstaffnordiccenter.com/marathon/marathon.php

Flagstaff will pay $10 toward each person’s registration fee for those
who want to put together a team and wear your CrossFit Flagstaff shirts!

It’s time to
put our team together and register for the 2009 MyoMed
Ragnar Relay Del Sol. Early registration for the MyoMed Ragnar Relay
Del Sol ends September 30th at $80/person.  After that date it goes up
to $95/person, so let’s get it together and get registered as a team!

PICTURE THIS:  You and 11 of your CrossFit friends running day and night, relay-style,
through some of the most scenic terrain Arizona could muster, between Wickenburg and Scottsdale. Add
in live bands, inside jokes, and a mild case of sleep deprivation. The
result? Some call it a slumber party without sleep, pillows or
deodorant. We call it a Ragnar Relay!

The Ragnar
Relay Del Sol is a relay run by a 12
person team, each person running 3 separate legs varying from 3 miles
to 7 miles.  Two support vehicles carry 6 runners apiece, in which is a
big slumber/support party the whole time!

Last year we
had an AWESOME team and all of us had a really great time.  We would
love to put that team and yet another one together to go this coming
February 27-28.
