WE HAVE SOME OF THE BEST OF AZ MASTERS ATHLETES!
And several other very awesome bada** athletes who represented CrossFit Flagstaff well on Saturday!
Last Saturday, CrossFit Fury expanded their current competition season to include a Master’s event and we had some incredible representation there with Jay, George, Tara, and Holly (yes, we still claim her as representing CFF!). The Best of AZ Masters was opened to all competitive individuals ages 40 and above. Our athletes competed through 4 events that tested a big portion of their fitness in a fun atmosphere. It was a great day and fun to see our strong Masters athletes highlighted!
The first workout was a “DT” ladder EMOM of 5 Deadlifts, 5 Hang Power Cleans, and 5 Shoulder-to-Overhead at ascending weights
men 40-49: 60, 70, 80, 90, 100kg
women 40-49: 40, 45, 50, 55, 60kg
men 50+: 50, 60, 70, 80, 90 kg
women 50+: 35, 40, 45, 50, 55kg
If an athlete cannot finish the 15 reps of a given round before the minute is over he/she is done. Score is total reps completed. Athletes will change their own weights. Tie breaker for athletes completing all 15 reps of the final bar will be additional DL completed after the final S2O.
Holly had a PR 400m run time in this one!
The second workout was Run 400m, Row 1500m. Time for 400m Run and total time are recorded.
George left everything on the floor for this one and after a first place finish in the 400m Run, took 2nd on this workout!
7 min cap for 21-15-9 of pullups, KBS and burpees
Men 40-49: 53lb KB
Men 50+: 44lb KB
Women 40-49: 35 lb KB
Women 50+: 26 lb KB
Typical standards for PU, KBS needs to show full extension of elbows, shoulders, hips and knees at top. KB does not need to be upside down at the top. Burpee is chest to deck and hands clap directly over head and feet with feet clearing floor at the top.
All 4 of our athletes made it into the final round! Great job, everyone! And big thanks to our cheer squad – Robin, Victoria, and Sam’s dad! Great to have you all there!
