My journey as a CrossFit athlete and coach has kind of come full circle and I can’t wait to see where it leads me next! I found CrossFit Flagstaff and Lisa Ray when I broke my back in the Fire Academy in 2006. The elevated fitness level that it brought me, and the ability to reenter the Fire Academy was initially what got me hooked. However, it was the community, the people and the amazing relationships that were built that have helped me through life’s ups and downs that has kept me coming back for more. Making the change from a full time Fire Fighter to full time CrossFit coach in 2013 is my chance to give back to the community that has given so much to me and I couldn’t be happier!

Come see how CrossFit can change YOUR life…

Interesting Facts:
Favorite Kids Movie: Rise of The Guardians
Why? It helped me realize what my ‘center’ was. What is YOUR center?

Athletic Background:

Often a late bloomer, I waited until college to make the transition from bookworm to athlete, when I joined the fencing and cycling teams. After college I switched to triathlons and Ultimate because of the more supportive atmospheres. On the job, a tactics instructor introduced me to CrossFit, and I finally met a barbell.

Working in the woods, I taught myself from the CrossFit videos on the FAQ page and worked out alone on the second floor of a barn for three years during the summers & frightened people at the YMCA during the winters. I finally followed my wife to Arizona and joined the magnificent crew at CrossFit Flagstaff.
I am still fascinated by barbell movements, but my interests have broadened to include the stones, yokes, and axles of Strongman events; the rocks, iron, and cabers of Highland Games; and the underground lair of grip strength. I’m basically the Obscure Sports Quarterly fan of the CFF team.

Daniel Amante – Level 1 CrossFit Trainer

Background:

I started CrossFit in West Virginia in 2013 after I saw some youtube videos of people competing. I thought it was a little crazy, but the athletes all looked strong and they were doing cool things. I got in, learned the movements and got stronger, but I became addicted to the community that forms around boxes all over the country. There is truly nothing like the people you will meet here at the gym. People who care about you, who want to see you succeed in the gym and outside the gym. People you can call friends.

Interests Include: Picking things up, putting them down. Trying that one thing that that guy on the internet did. Being happy that “At least I didn’t have to carry bricks on my back during that workout.” Being in the ocean.
